Havergal College girls’ school and AppleTree Markets Group present their final farmers’ market for the season, the fourth workshop in their “Sustainable Schools” program, which teaches high-school students the rudiments of grassroots enterprise through the local food movement.
The Sustainable Schools program is helmed by AppleTree Markets Group to instill the basics of community-building in young people. With a year-long series of workshops, students learn to organize, advertise, and manage the small business of a multi-vendor farmers’ market.
Where: Havergal grounds at 1451 Avenue Road in North Toronto
When: Wednesday, May 8th, 2013
Time: 230-530pm and is open to the public.
Theme: Carnival : some participating local farmers and artisanal purveyors include De La Terre, Sweet Sammies, The Pop Stand, and Culinarium, with products ranging from breads and cookies to gourmet ice pops and flavoured popcorns.
